Analytics and the EU ePrivacy rules

The EU’s ePrivacy rules decide when a website must ask before storing or reading information on a visitor’s device. Analyzine gives you two tracking modes to match your approach.

  • Cookieless by default
  • Cookie mode waits for consent
  • CookieYes, Complianz, WP Consent API
  • Data stays on your server

In brief

What the ePrivacy rules cover

Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, storing or reading information on a visitor’s device generally needs consent, unless it’s strictly necessary for a service the visitor asked for. Each EU country applies this through its own law.

Regulators don’t all read it the same way, for example on whether some analytics can be exempt. The European Data Protection Board has said the rule can also cover tracking techniques other than cookies.

Built in

Privacy settings you control

Every privacy setting is included in every plan. Turn on what fits your site.

Cookieless by default

No cookies out of the box. Cookie mode is optional and waits for your visitor’s consent.

Works with your consent tool

Cookie mode follows the visitor’s choice in CookieYes, Complianz or the WP Consent API.

Your data stays on your server

Every visit is stored in your own WordPress database. Visitor data never reaches us or anyone else.

No third-party scripts

Nothing loads from outside your site, and no visitor data goes to advertisers or anyone else.

IP anonymisation

Keep full IP addresses or anonymised ones. You choose.

Automatic data deletion

Choose how long data is kept and older data is deleted for you. We recommend 90 days.

How it works

Where your data goes

Analytics data makes one short trip: from your visitor’s browser to your own WordPress site.

  1. Step 1Visitor’s browserA tracker of 5 KB or less loads in the background. No cookies by default.
  2. Step 2Your WordPress siteRecords the visit. Country lookup and IP anonymisation happen here, on your server.
  3. Step 3Your databaseStored in Analyzine’s own tables and deleted automatically after the period you set.

What reaches Solvix Studio: only your license key and a signature to verify it. Never your visitors’ data.

Questions

Does cookieless mode mean I never need consent?

Not necessarily. Cookieless mode sets no cookies, but some regulators read the rule as covering other tracking techniques too. Check your country’s regulator, or ask your legal advisor.

What happens in cookie mode before a visitor accepts?

Cookie mode doesn’t track a visitor until they accept through your consent tool.

Which consent plugins does Analyzine work with?

CookieYes, Complianz and the WP Consent API.
